ALMA was born from the need to find innovative results through experimentation with ancestral craft techniques skillfully practiced throughout Mexico.
The brand was born in 2017, the result of a work model that proposes a responsible and dynamic relationship between food and design. The bags are created 100% by hand by weavers from the eastern part of the state of Guerrero. In a completely sustainable process, this group collects, processes and dyes the palm before weaving it in an artisanal process that involves up to 30 hours of work for each piece.

ABOUT THE BAG:
Named for the pattern that forms the weave of the palm, the Taco Estrella adds a fun touch to the Default version of the Taco Bag. This model is offered in medium size and includes the bovine leather closing mechanism and handle.
ALMA’s creative team of weavers developed a dye system that uses ashes proceeding from their own cooking wood stoves to create the different colors shown in the tortoiseshell tone. For each tone, a different amount of ashes is infused in the water that then is used to treat and dye the palm. An artisanal technique and a sustainable practice with very few environmental impact. A product that creates benefit for everyone involved is part of Alma’s commitments.
